Room 13: Folk piety

In this room, devoted to the strong religious feeling that permeated the country civilization, it is possible to taste the genuineness of the devotion to the saints whose protection, invisible but effective, it was essential.

Votive images, wood statues, of papier-mâché and of wax, pictures with sacred effigies, "ex voto" and paraments of churches, they return us the emotional transport and the severity of the religiousness pre-council.

The shop of the candle-maker was essential in this context, that it saw to be born to layers the candles that would have brought a little of light in the dark evenings unprovided of electric illumination and populated of imaginary suggestions.
