Room 1: Territory

In this room they are exposed materials that outline the stories that have interested our territory since his geologic formation, from the tertiary age to the quaternary age.

The traces of human presence are documented from materials that they don't originate from stratigraphical excavations but from superficial harvest effected on outcrops resoulting from ploughing or from digs as a harvest of flints recovered in the region "Lama di Jumo", or fragments that from the neolithic age they reach the Roman age.

We find also a sarcophagus monolithic grave of "peuceta" age, an outfit funeral expression of the "peuceta" culture, coming from the locality "Lama d'Inferno" near Gioia del Colle, datable to the first half of the IV century b.C., and fragments of an altar coming from the abbey of "S. Angelo in Frassineto" of which news is had by the XII to the XVII century. Maps of the territory of Sammichele, exposed on the wall, can be observed, to outfit of the rich explanations that has traced the history of the country since 1504, first dating attested of the presence of the tower Centuriona, to the feudal destruction in 1811.
